Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test shows my speed is about 1.5 mbps donwload & 200kbps upload but it's slow here. My actual speed varies from 40-200 KBPs which is not so fast but it's very good in india where bandwidth is less. But what does that site tests..how come it shows such results..1.5 MBPS...
Whats ur speed the one measured with Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test n actual????? |

![]() Well thats what it showed when I tested my connection.I guess they just traces your IP and pings from a remote server. And by measuring the transfer of data for a certain period of time, they can find out an average download and upload speed of your connection. I am sure you check again at a time when the number of users are less, your connection speed will go up. |

Yes its possible when only you and no other are connected to the server it pinged which is not possible while connecting to general webservers where sites are hosted. Also we have to consider upload speed of servers with which they can send packets.
