McAfee is actually the Best solution you can get. Norton is a little over-sensitive when it comes to scanning. Norton being over-sensitive has it's positives, as well as negatives, positives, being good at sniffing out Viruses which are hiding inside your computer, negatives being it telling you about files, which seem corrupted, but are actually System Files.

Deletion of certain System Files would result in your Computer shutting down.

I don't know about your countries, but for me, in my Country, there's a newspaper specially made to talk about Digital and IT stuff, given out every Tuesday, and there's a column, which replies to people's help calls, into their Hotline, during the past week. I noticed in every situation dealing with Viruses in the user's Computer, they would refer to McAfee's Virus Definitions and things like that. Meaning, McAfee's reliable.

I myself used McAfee before, it gave me no problems whatsoever, and cleared viruses for me.

Used Norton as well, worked well, untill it expired, wouldn't get off my back, telling me to renew my subscription.

Just go with AVG, as Mcfee and Norton you will eventually have to pay for like LobBob said.

before this i use avg for antivirus to protect my computer from virus, this avg is very light to use it for pc that have low memory hehe, but now im no longer use it anymore because its too late to out the new pattern of virus, and now i have using avast antivirus, its more light than the avg and its fast in updating and create new pattern of virus and can fully protect my pc from any virus hehe

Thumbs up free v paid for

The best free a/v is Antivir and the best paid is Kaspersky. This was the finding of a PC mag i subscribe to that did a testing of 13 a/v progs.

Of the common ones kaspersky finished 1st with 98% detection rate
Antivir was 2nd with 96% detection rate
Mcafee was 7th with 82%
Norton 8th with 78%
Avast was 10th
and good old AVG was 12th

So antivir for me , used it for 2 yrs and never had any prob ..
