Change Display Name

My suggestion is the ability to set your Display Name at the top-left corner.
For example: My display thing is PlAnEtTecH, but you can change that to PlAnEt. But still leaving your login username the same.

This seems very confusing, if everybody keeps changing there names.
Also, we will get imposenating problems. people pretending to be staff, let's prevent this from happening.

Perhaps, what you were saying a Display Name, instead of your Username = Display Name.

Correct me if i'm wrong, as far as i'm concerned, I haven't seen that feature being available for vBulletin so far. However, if you do see a Mod for that, please alert me about it.

Well, I didn't quite understand what you were saying LobBob, but I'll try to explain better. Like my username is PlAnEtTecH right? So without changing your login username.....You only change how your name is spelled. So that would be called the Display Name.You can change the letters of your display name in your User CP.And LobBob, this is not right: Username=Display Name. This is what is right: Display Name=How your name is seen by you and others.

You can maybe add a point thing tot he Display Name option. Only with your points, can you change your Display Name. Let's say for example it costs 5000 points to change it. You buy it and you lose 5000 points.
This should let you understand better,LobBob. In addition, this may prevent account stealing. And if this suggestion becomes a big issue after being implemented, you can unimplement it....

Haven't you ever thought of this when setting a Display Name This Display Name is not available. Or A Username is being in use of this name. So actually, there will not be any impersonating issues. Also, when you mentioned "people pretending to be staff", it's nearly impossible with a Moderator bar or Administrator bar in use like:

. If they don't have that bar, their fakers. Simple.

On GzP, issues like these were already going on.
If you allow people to have any name they wan't they get the power to impersonate.

On GzP for example, your not even allowed to have the same color as staff, having an exact duplicate name of a Staff would be even worse in my opinion.

Also that Admin tag could be easaly faked as an Avatar.

So if you add this, there will not be any name-taking issues. Forget the tag part.

That's not very effective at all, specially if i had to imporsenate you, id just change 1 letter in my name.
And make it PLAnEtTecH, the difference would be barely noticable.

And forgetting about the tag wouldn't be such a good idea.

Even if you make 1 letter capital, the letters are the same, so it would be like :This Display Name is not available
Capitalizing doesn't make a difference in the spelling. Only the appearance changed...

OK, here's an idea. To purchase this item:

No, you got the Request Username from GZP all wrong. I'm talking about the Display Name, not your login username. Well, on GZP, if you change your login username, same goes with display name. But what I'm saying is that I'm suggesting a Change Display Name item that changes your Display name, leaving the Username out. You can buy the item with:
