~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~KRON 4 NEWS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
BAY AREA (KRON) - Cal Fire is reporting that the problem with so-called ‘safe and sane' fireworks is that in the wrong hands, they are neither safe nor sane. Battalion Chief Mike Marcucci told KRON 4's Rob Fladeboe that with hundreds of still-burning fires across the state and more lightning in the forecast, there are concerns any kind of fireworks will put still more pressure on resources already stretched thin, "The fuels are dry, the weather is not cooperating, we're having large fires sooner this year, it's a recipe for disaster when you add fireworks to the equation." Safe and sane fireworks are now a hot potato in the handful of cities where they're still sold. Fladeboe found that in Gilroy, stands generate thousands of dollars for non-profit groups like high school football teams. That's why the city council just voted down a proposed ban on the sales, despite the heightened fire worries. By law, sales are restricted to Gilroy residents and not allowed outside city limits. But customers are on their honor to give their correct address, Marcucci says there's been some confusion, "There are mailing addresses outside the city limits, so it's possible some people may be using the fireworks illegally and don't know it." On the heels of last week's devastating Trabing Fire, the City of Watsonville is also considering a ban on safe and sane fireworks. As for illegal fireworks, which are loosely defined as anything that leaves the ground, flies or explodes, the message from Marcucci and Cal Fire is clear, "Our engines will be out in force. We'll have high visibility. If folks are going to use fireworks, they'd better be safe and sane and they'd better be in the right place." So be safe members. Don't make a firework or anything that flies or explodes. Other than toys. Lol. You can use toy helicopters and stuff like that. |
The country i'm in had the Rule about no Fireworks of any sort for private use. Only Goverment Agencies are allowed to use it for official events, like the National Day.
Are you of age between 11 and 16?
Whenever things are announced not to be done, it gives them the intention to go do it simply because they don't want us to, it's not really sarcasm. |
Here you need a permit for fireworks and there's not many places where you can buy them. I've only been to one firework shop and that was far far away.
