US President George W Bush and French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Saturday jointly urged Syria to break with Iran and bluntly warned that they would not let Tehran obtain nuclear weapons.

What would you feel if your were told by your neighbor to select who you're gonna make friends with? Would you be happy because your neighbor "cares" for you, or would you feel insulted that your neighbor is seemingly "meddling" in your personal life?

Syria probaly felt insulted and if their country has a real relationshp with Iran they will obvipusly maintain it.
