Nah. We just need to keep afloat for the time, untill a rescuer comes to save us. We don't necessarily need to swim back to shore.

While swimming, we see rescuers, they save us, and everyone reaches back to shore to have a happy meal. We lived happily ever after, the end.

If I did have a wife and mother with me and this situation happened I suppose I would save my wife since for me to have married someone she must have been as insane as I am.
