Well I finally caved and bought Age of Conan. The reason it took me so long to get it is because the beta turned out to be one ENORMOUS lagfest. I could barely play it. Yes I know that's the point of a beta, but no matter what graphics I set it at I could barely get above 10fps. I heard that the graphics problem was fixed mostly with the actual release but it took me some time to risk $50 to find out.
So far the difference between the final beta and the release is like night and day. I can crank up the settings with very little lag and enjoy it. So far I'm enjoying the combat A LOT and I keep decapitating my enemies, which is always satisfying. I'm playing through the story mode right now which is kind of cool. All women in th game have breasts and bodies fit for supermodels and nearly all of them have no problem offering sex for a favor, which I find deeply amusing. The only bad thing I've noticed about the game so far is that digitally purchasing the game is an absolute nightmare. The problem starts are the registration process. Just registering requires that you have a mobile phone with SMS. Yes that's right, a mobile phone is REQUIRED to register. What they do is send your phone a message with an unlock code that you use during registration. If that isn't bad enough most mobile services don't work with the system so most people won't get their unlock code. I emailed the support and they sent me an unlock code within ten minutes. The quick support was appreciated. The NEXT problem occurred during the download process. Instead of providing you with the download like most MMORPG's, what they do is give you a client that is a few mb's in size and you're REQUIRED to download the game through that client. The problem with that is you can't use any download managers so you're stuck with whatever speed they want you to have. For the first two days straight I didn't get above 100kb/s. Finally on the third day I started getting speeds of 450kb/s. It took me three days after buying the game to actually play it. Before that though I had tried getting it quicker by downloading the links on this forum, but they were all corrupted, much to my annoyance. After the download was done, installing it and playing was a snap. I have some screenshots below: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Honestly the only reason I could consider it is the fact they have Australian based servers for it, unlike cheapo Blizzard which seems to think labeling some servers in the states as 'oceanic' does the job.

This game is not worth it at all.
The game is perfect and polished up to level twenty, however, it just dies after that. There's no more speech, except for mainline quests, and the game begins to show how buggy and unready for release it is. It's visuals are absolutely pathetic. The game actually runs faster on High settings when compared to Low or Medium. |
